Be like Noel Fielding - dress up like Kate Bush and dance to "Wuthering Heights." This Saturday in Renaissance Park at 9:30 (dancing starts at 10:00)!!
🚨🚨 REMINDER! We are gathering tomorrow (7/25) at 6pm to protest Tennessee's trigger law. Although this law is not in effect yet, it was designed to automatically ban abortion in Tennessee 30 days after Roe v. Wade was overturned. Our fight is not over!!
We are planning to rally rain or shine, so come prepared for either. Whether or not it rains, we expect it to be HOT, so bring water! Keep an eye on our stories in case the weather forecast changes.
Don't forget to follow our safety tips:
1. What to wear: comfortable shoes, plain clothes, and a face covering. Plain clothes will make it harder for antis to track you, and a face covering is a must with Covid BA.5 raging.
2. What to do: bring water, turn off biometrics (face/fingerprint unlocks) and location services on your phone, and post pictures/videos after you leave the protest. While we do not expect a police presence at our rally, it's also a good idea to have the phone number for a bail fund or someone you trust written on your body.
3. What NOT to do: engage with counter protestors, use wire hanger images, or use handmaid imagery.
-Engaging with counter protestors increases the likelihood of danger for everyone at our events and does not help our cause.
-Wire hangers are triggering for many people at pro-abortion events, and they only encourage fear and increase stigma about abortions. This fear can prevent pregnant people from getting the healthcare they need in a timely manner. Self managed abortions are medically safe and do not involve wire hangers.
-Handmaid costumes, bonnets, and other images center white women's experiences with sexual and reproductive freedom. White patriarchy has abused people of color for centuries, and locked BIPOC out of making their own reproductive choices. The Handmaid's Tale tells a story of these same abuses being applied to white women. We ask that no one bring these images to CHAT events in order to decenter whiteness in our work and respect the reproductive justi
