Well, this is going to be a tad longer than most... but hopefully not as long as some...
God has been blessing tremendously at the The Union Gospel Mission-Chattanooga Outreach! There is no doubt that this is an exciting time for the ministry God has given us. Our "8 More Beds, 8 More Lives" housing expansion is going up! We are only about $85k away from the total goal.
This past week our guys pitched in and did some great volunteer work with WDYN Radio and Shoes for Orphan Souls and we were able to provide lunch for the volunteers with M.O.M.'s Kitchen.
We are just 1 week way from our 12th Annual Labor Day "FREE BBQ" Fundraiser.
We are seeing guys make life improvements through our programs... and yet life is never perfect!
Friday afternoon, my brother was helping me transport M.O.M.'s Kitchen from Bayside Baptist, back to our facility off of Signal Mtn Rd. when that "never perfect" life showed up. Coming up the ridge cut on 24 Westbound, it appears we have blown the transmission.
God quickly brought to mind 2 Corinthians 4:8-9... 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
We were supposed to have our health department inspection in the next few days and have M.O.M.'s Kitchen fully deployed... but God had other plans. In reflecting on that... I thought of Joseph and what he went through on the path to Pharaoh's Palace.
Before he found himself in the Palace, where God used him to save an untold number of lives, including the fledgling Nation of Israel, he found himself in the pit and in the prison. It came to mind that the Pit must have felt like punishment. The Prison must have felt like Persecution. He couldn't see the Palace from the Pit and he couldn't see God's provision from the Prison... But God could!
Sometimes, we have to go through the process to see God's Providence!
We had the truck towed to a place in Ringgold to have the issue diagnosed and hopefully repaired. Would you pray with us that this can be resolved quickly and at the least expense possible?
We're still trusting God and His process!!!
