JUNE 16TH CPAAA MEETING

The guest speaker for our June meeting will be Assistant Chief of Neighborhood Policing & Development, Danny Jones. Chief Daniel “Danny” Jones joined the Chattanooga Police Department in 2003 and has served in a wide range of roles. His experience includes 10 years on SWAT, a year as a DEA Task Force Officer, and assignments in the Public Information Office and Gang Unit, where he served as sergeant. He has also held leadership roles as Patrol Zone Commander, Special Operations Commander, and Support Services Commander. Promoted to Major in 2022, he led the Professional Standards Division before being appointed Assistant Chief of Neighborhood Policing in April 2025.

Chief Jones also served for many years in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 2000 and graduated from the FBI National Academy (Session #291) in 2024.

Chief Jones has been instrumental in developing a program to help officers process and cope with all the stress they face in the line of duty. He is widely recognized for creating the Blue Trauma / Blue Bucket Program, an initiative focused on helping first responders recognize, process, and manage the accumulated stress and trauma of law enforcement work. Chief Jones will share the contents of this program with us during our meeting. This will be a very important presentation and we hope to see you all this coming Tuesday, June 16th, at 6:00 pm (CPD's Community Room!)

What a day at S.O.S. Fest! 🎉
More than 225 community members joined us for a fun-filled day of health, safety, and family-friendly activities. With over 40 exhibitors, interactive games and experiences, and more than $600 in door prizes given away, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was learning human and pet CPR with WeRCPR... a fan favorite among attendees!
Thank you to everyone who came out, visited our exhibitors, and helped make this year’s S.O.S. Fest a success. We loved seeing our community come together and hope to see you again next year!

Planning, precision, and patience are all key for successfully handling incidents involving hazardous or possibly explosive materials. That's why CPD's Special Operations Unit joined other agencies for training at Finley Stadium this week. Collaborations like this help us stay prepared for a wide range of scenarios and strengthen inter-agency communication.
Thank you to Dynamic Photography for capturing this video from the training event.

The Tennessee Aquarium is a popular stop for both tourists and locals. It's also one of many businesses CPD works with to improve safety strategies and emergency communications. Collaborations like this help keep the Scenic City a safer city.

AN AWARD & REUNION
It was an emotional afternoon lineup at CPD as Officer Rogers was recognized for his brave actions in front of his peers and reunited with the family he saved from an apartment fire earlier this month. Officer Rogers received the Police Medal, which is given to officers who distinguish themselves through exceptionally meritorious service. And if that wasn't enough excitement, it was also the birthday of the young man Officer Rogers rescued! Of course we had to celebrate with some donuts and singing (badly) to him.

Ironman 70.3 - CPD - CPAAA. Great morning socializing with officers and others at the venue! Our help was not needed for the sandwiches- but we hung around awhile- FUN!

Thank you Erlanger Behavioral Health for hosting a Front Porch Lineup with CPD Baker sector officers. Policing and healthcare can be stressful work, we appreciate these opportunities to connect when the radios are quiet and we can strengthen our partnership in helping community members.
