This is in no way meant to shame or blame anyone. As a matter of fact, I respect anyone who has the heart to help an animal in need. On the contrary, this post is meant to educate in order to save lives.
This precious little girl was rescued by a well meaning, kind lady. She loved her, bathed and fed her for several days until she found us.
Sadly she wasn't aware of one of the most important unknown facts about feeding baby skunks.
They are glutinous little beings who aspirate very easily and can drown or get pneumonia from aspiration.
That's exactly what happened as she feed her her last meal on the way to us.
Her little lungs were full of formula and she couldn't get oxygen from her lungs to her brain and viral organs.
I had to send her on her final journey. It was heartbreaking for us both.
I urge you to find professional help when you can. If no one is available ask every question, do your research, task to professionals, and NEVER fully trust the internet.
