A lot of locals reporting tick bits and finding ticks in them. Be cautious

TICKED OFF: Some of you have noticed & have reached out about me not being at work this week (big thanks to Kayla for filling in for me, by the way). My travels often take me outdoors into wooded areas, so I'm typically quite vigilant to check for ticks. Apparently I missed one.

The last 5 days have been a rough ride of fever and worsening symptoms. We've now learned it's Lyme disease from a tick bite, which is good as I am now on a treatment plan that will hopefully slowly clear the infection from my body. You likely won't see me on air again until next week.

A friendly reminder, if you spend any amount of time outdoors (especially in wooded areas), make sure you're checking your entire body for ticks. As my doctors have told me, it is particularly bad this season. The few extra minutes of checking are well worth not having to deal with the ramifications of missing one. Trust me!

Thunderstorms are expected to shift eastward, with the main concerns being damaging wind and perhaps a tornado. Areas to watch are where storms move into the eastern part of the region, especially if storms intensify as they track east.

Continued Event - Lakeshore Flood Warning. Minor lakeshore flooding is expected along the Lake Ontario shore of Oswego and Jefferson counties from 2 PM Thursday to 8 PM EDT Friday. Water rises and wave action may cause flooding in bays, inlets, harbors, and other low-lying areas, with shoreline erosion likely.

Gusty winds are expected Thursday in Jefferson and Lewis Counties. South winds 20 to 30 mph with occasional gusts of 45 to 55 mph are expected from 6 AM to 8 PM EDT, becoming southwest Thursday afternoon. Secure loose items and watch for downed limbs and isolated power outages.
