Our NCLS mobile app update added ‘Open Dyslexic’ font. This update introduced the accessibility enhancement to provide improved, native layout support for patrons navigating the catalog with dyslexia.
When logged into the mobile app, patrons will need to go to Preferences, scroll down to Interface font and select ‘Open Dyslexic’ and then RELOAD.
When the ‘Open Dyslexic’ font is selected, the app replaces the standard text style with the ‘Open Dyslexic’ font throughout supported reading areas. This change happens automatically across the platform.
The ‘Open Dyslexic’ font is designed with heavier letter bases and distinct character shapes. These design choices help reduce the chance of letters appearing flipped, crowded, or visually blended together. For many readers, this can make text easier to follow and reduce visual strain during longer reading sessions.
If the Interface Font is changed back to ‘Standard’, the app immediately returns to the standard typeface without affecting progress or content.
