We're throwing it way back to the beginning on this one!
The bugle is from 1928 when the Pine Hill Drum and Bugle Corps started!
One of index cards are from a charter member. Baehre, and the other, Alway, is from when the roster opened up a few years later for others to join. Pine Hill Hose Company had a 75 man roster with a waiting list in 1927!

Welcome to the Neighborhood! Then: Max Striegl's Alpine Village.
Now: An empty building.
1581 East Delavan Ave.

One of the popular German American Bars that existed on the East Side and Cheektowaga. The business struggled after Prohibition and was sold to James Eberhardt who opened the Midnight Sun night club.

That business closed in the late 1940's and was reopened as the Apine Village in early 1950's. The bar operated at 1 581 East Delavan until the early 2000's. The building is still standing and operates as a house of worship.

Max made an unsuccessful run for Cheektowaga Town Supervisor in 1955.

He owned Amherst Bowling Alley on East Amherst Street. and a race horse that he raced at Buffalo Raceway.

He passed a away July 17 1971, at the age of 60.
