We had some special visitors yesterday from Theodore Roosevelt School! They came with our favorite food..... DONUTS 🍩 for Law Enforcement Appreciate Day! Thank you so much for thinking of us! 💙

Today some kids from TR showed their appreciation for our Cheektowaga Police Officers on behalf of the entire school. Normally we would welcome the Officers to the school with a nice lunch and special greetings from the kids. The best part is the Officers eat their lunch with all the kids, and the kids LOVE that! This year things had to be a little different but we still wanted to show our appreciation for everything they do for us every single day. The kids delivered 100 boxes of Tim Bits to the Police Station and gave them a big thank you.

Thank you Cheektowaga Police Department for your dedication and service! We appreciate you so much!!💙

The Stephens Family contacted us asking if we knew of a family that could use a little extra Christmas cheer. We reached out to the Resurrection Life Food Panty and we were able to partner them up with this sweet family! Thanks to generosity of the Stephans', Laylee Kania and LJ Gheen, they made this Christmas extra special by donating a PS5! We are so happy that we were able to be apart of a day that these two families will never forget!

We had a really nice visit from the owners of Gracie, the dog that Officer Rutkowski and Officer Blackchief rescued on December 30th. Cheryl and her husband put together the most heartfelt gift bags for the officers. Cheryl followed a theme of thankfulness with Hershey Kisses, LifeSavers, Merci Chocolate, a adorable picture and of course some Natural "Ice"! Our officers were so happy to hear that Gracie was doing well and resting at home!

Cheektowaga Police Officers Rescue Dog From Creek

Here is heartwarming story to send off 2020! On December 30th at 3:19pm, officers responded to a dog spotted in the creek. Officers attempted to check the creek at various spots, however, the creek has a steep bank and is in a wooded area. Patrolman Rutkowski made his way through the woods and spotted the dog clinging to a tree in the creek. Patrolman Rutkowski entered the water which was waist deep and made his way to the dog. Patrolman Troy Blackchief arrived to help and also entered the water. Patrolman Rutkowski was able to lift the dog off the tree and out of the water and passed the dog to Patrolman Blackchief who was assisted by Cheektowaga Animal Control in getting the dog out of the water. The dog was turned over to the owners and brought to the veterinary clinic to be checked! Great job by all and a happy ending!

Earl Loder
Disaster Coordinator of the Town of Cheektowaga
1932-2020

It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Earl Loder. The enormous amount of sympathy we wish to extend to the family of Earl will not even come close to the legacy he leaves behind.

Earl Loder was appointed the Disaster Coordinator of the Town of Cheektowaga in 1981 and served this position with distinction for the next 39 years. After asssisting his community as a Volunteer Firefighter, Volunteer Fire Chief and Fire Commissioner he took on the task of developing a new position to help serve the public during hazardous materials spills, winter storms, tornados, train derailments, floods, and many other emergencies. He was well known throughout Western New York and the State as one of the leading authorities in Emergency Management. Loved by some and respected by many, he will be missed for his commitment to keeping the Town of Cheektowaga “Always Ready.”

***PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCMENT***
From October 1- December 1st we took 33 reports for stolen vehicles. In the Cleveland Hill area, 3 vehicles were taken all within the 6am hour. Vehicles are being stolen after residents are leaving their vehicles running to warm up. One of the vehicles was running outside a convenience store. With the colder weather upon us, we need the public to keep their vehicles locked at all times and not leave their keys in the vehicle. Please push this information out and notify your neighbors and friends of these crimes taking place.
