DTRT Chicken Drive Thru Dinner June 5th 12-6pm

The Cheektowaga Police annually runs the "DO THE RIGHT THING" program, which recognizes the youth of our community who distinguished themselves as role models by their actions. With the difficult and uncertain times last year, we unfortunately had to cancel the program. We are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with this year’s program with a drive-thru chicken dinner. Please consider donating to this amazing program by supporting our upcoming D.T.R.T Drive-Thru Chicken Dinner on June 5th at the Cheektowaga Senior Center from 12-6pm!

About the "DO THE RIGHT THING" program:
Each school year students are nominated by teachers, parents or a citizen from the community. A committee than selects candidates from the field of nominations to become recipients of the D.T.R.T award. Each recipient is invited to an award celebration in his or her honor. At the celebration, the recipients receive a Plaque of Recognition, a dinner for them and their family and other gifts. Since its inception, we have had over 1000 students nominated and roughly 500 students have been recipients of the D.T.R.T award.

The Cheektowaga Police are hosting a fundraising for our Do The Right Thing Program. The Do The Right Thing Program recognizes the youth of our community who distinguish themselves as role models by their actions.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Christine’s family and friends and we share in the extreme sadness the Town of Tonawanda Police are experiencing losing one of their own. Christine spent her life and career helping others. She has forever left her mark on the world. She was taken too soon and will be missed by so many.

We are saddened to inform you that our beloved Lt. Christine Milosich died on March 1st, 2021. Chrissy valiantly fought cancer, but you wouldn't have known it because of her strength.

Lt. Milosich was hired in 2008, and In 2017, she became the first female TTPD officer to be promoted to lieutenant. Chrissy served many roles at TTPD, but none more important than in 2020, when she became the leader and champion of our Community Services program.

Lt. Milosich's dedication and compassion for her career, community, and people are an example to us all.

We love you, Chrissy.

We had a really nice visit from the owners of Gracie, the dog that Officer Rutkowski and Officer Blackchief rescued on December 30th. Cheryl and her husband put together the most heartfelt gift bags for the officers. Cheryl followed a theme of thankfulness with Hershey Kisses, LifeSavers, Merci Chocolate, a adorable picture and of course some Natural "Ice"! Our officers were so happy to hear that Gracie was doing well and resting at home!

Cheektowaga Police Officers Rescue Dog From Creek

Here is heartwarming story to send off 2020! On December 30th at 3:19pm, officers responded to a dog spotted in the creek. Officers attempted to check the creek at various spots, however, the creek has a steep bank and is in a wooded area. Patrolman Rutkowski made his way through the woods and spotted the dog clinging to a tree in the creek. Patrolman Rutkowski entered the water which was waist deep and made his way to the dog. Patrolman Troy Blackchief arrived to help and also entered the water. Patrolman Rutkowski was able to lift the dog off the tree and out of the water and passed the dog to Patrolman Blackchief who was assisted by Cheektowaga Animal Control in getting the dog out of the water. The dog was turned over to the owners and brought to the veterinary clinic to be checked! Great job by all and a happy ending!
