Friday Night Mini Golf Fun
Attention Mini Camp and Bowling participants: We have made the decision to cancel program tomorrow, 11/19. We have a number of staff who will still not be able to get in and want to make sure our families and staff stay safe.
Due to the inclement weather we are cancelling basketball practice on 11/17/22 and the Friday Night Mini Golf Field Trip on 11/18/22.

I am happy to announce that we have found a lifeguard! We will start Special Olympic Swimming on Wednesday November 2nd. Adapted is from 6-7 and Lap is from 7-8 at JFK high School.

Unfortunately we are postponing our swim practices for the time being. Our search for a lifeguard is on going. We are hoping to start up in November.

If anyone knows a certified life guard who would be interested in helping with our swim program for youth with special needs please message me and I can give more details. We need one to run our Adapted Rec Swim Program. It would be Wednesdays 6pm-8pm approximately Oct - March/April
The softball tournament has been rescheduled to Sunday August 21st. Please let Morgan know if you are planning on attending.
Due to the diamonds not being playable, there is no Special Olympic softball tonight! See everyone next week!

Our little bundle decided to make her appearance a little early….McKenzie Paige Koeppel was born March 8 at 6:04 am. 6 lbs 10 oz. Mom and McKenzie are both doing well!
March mailings were sent out last night!! We will have basketball on Wednesday, March 2 and mini-camp on Saturday, March 5 next week!
Good morning!! As of today, February 24, Morgan has fully taken over as Special Olympic director. I will be going out earlier than expected. Going forward please see Morgan with any questions or concerns. Thank you all for your support over the last few years, I will greatly miss being involved with the program, but promise to be back to visit!

Bowling Tournament:
The bowling tournament will be held Sunday, February 6th. Athletes will receive a memo at practice this weekend if they are eligible and registered for the event, it will include all details. Please read it carefully. Also, if there are any form attached, they need to be completed and returned prior to the tournament or the athlete may be ineligible to participate.
If you do not have a blue Cheektowaga bowling t-shirt, please message me with your size. I will be sure to have it at practice on Saturday. The cost is $10. Thank you!
We will be once again running program during the February and April school breaks. (Ages 5 - 12)
February 22 - 25 (Tuesday - Friday) 9:00am - 5:00pm
April 11 - 14 (Monday - Thursday) 9:00am - 5:00pm
You can call 897-7207 M-F, 9:30am - 4:00pm, to register or you can email [email protected]. Once you are registered we will send you a registration form to fill out.
Children will need a lunch and a water bottle everyday. Masks are to be work by everyone in the building regardless of vaccination status.
In the event the December mailing doesn’t arrive in time.
Saturday December 4th Mini Camp participants: We will be going to the building at Losson Park. We will be doing various activities. Please dress for the weather as we might go outside a little.
Drop off: No later than 10am at the Alexander Community Center (please be on time as we will be transporting in our vans)
Pick up: If you will be bowling we will transport to the bowling alley like always and you will pick up at your designated time from Lancaster Lanes.
If you do NOT BOWL you will pick up your participant at 2pm from Losson Park (500 Losson Road)
Needed: bring a lunch and drink
Just in case you do not receive your calendar in time, there is basketball this Wednesday, December 1. There is mini-camp and bowling on Saturday, December 4. Message us with any questions! Thank you!
Who’s ready for our Adapted Recreation Program annual Thanksgiving feast!
The Adapted Recreation Program will be returning and starting on Saturday October 2nd. At this point we are unable to offer swimming, but we will have basketball on Wednesdays, occasional Friday Night activities, Saturday Mini Camp, and bowling on Saturdays twice a month. Please let us know if you would like to register or come in and see us Saturday October 2nd 10am-2pm. Please note, all guests to our program are required to wear a mask at this time, regardless of vaccination status.
Congratulations to our Special Olympic softball team on taking 3rd place at the local tournament today!! You guys rock!! (We also have the cutest new employee that came to watch us play today!)
Due to the weather forecast for Wednesday, April 21, track practice will be CANCELLED. Practice will resume, Wednesday, April 28. Thank you for your cooperation!!
Also, May calendars will be mailed out by the end of the week!
Weather pending we are planning to start track and field on Wednesday, April 7, 6-8pm. We will be holding practice in the park. We finally have some information to share. We will not be resuming the Saturday Mini Camp portion of our Adapted Recreation Program for this season.
We are in the process of planning to run two of our sports programs. These will not be associated with Special Olympics, but will be our Adapted Recreation Sports Programs. We are looking to hold Track & Field and Softball, fully outdoors. Potentially Track will run April - June and Softball June - August, weather depending. Keep an eye on our page and your mailbox for further information to come.

As per information received from the Cheektowaga Youth and Rec Department, we will not be resuming the Adapted Recreation Program or our sports programs, including Special Olympics, until most likely January. If you need to reach us for any reason, or have more specific questions please email [email protected]. Also message us here. Please do not call the office as we are unable to be in while the program is shut down.
At this time we do not have any definitive information regarding Adapted Rec being able to run. Plans and programming are being discussed but unknown for now.
Madison Grace Koeppel was born June 18th at 10:00am. Mommy and Madison are both doing great!

New York State Police Lieutenant Greg Peron knows how much our athletes are missing competition. So he made some surprise visits to say hello and shoot some hoops!
UPDATE: The Texas Roadhouse Dinner/Basket Auction scheduled for May 9th is being INDEFINITELY POSTPONED at this time. It will be held at a later date, possibly in the fall. Those who already purchased tickets, we will still honor those or we can refund your money once we are able to be in the office again.

We miss all the kids in our programs this Spring, so we have teamed up with the Easter Bunny to drive by and say Hi!! Feel free to wave and take pictures as we drive through. (Please note, we cannot guarantee approximate times/streets that the bunny will visit, but we will make every effort to drive through as many streets as possible on 4/9/20.
