🚨🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder from U-Crest Fire Department 🎆🚨

The celebration doesn’t end when the fireworks stop — proper disposal matters too. Improperly discarded fireworks can reignite and cause fires hours later.

🪣 How to safely dispose of used fireworks:
✔️ Place all used fireworks in a bucket or container of water
✔️ Soak for at least 24 hours
✔️ Check to make sure they are fully saturated
✔️ Place soaked fireworks in a sealed plastic bag and dispose of them in the trash

🚫 Never throw fireworks directly into the garbage
🚫 Never place them in recycling
🚫 Never leave them in yards, streets, or burn piles

When in doubt… SOAK IT OUT! 💦

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday responsibly.

This Morning we conducted a joint Drill with Cleveland Hill. The topic was Search & Rescue. Crews from both Departments integrated together and conducted multiple evolutions in zero visibility, training on victim search and removal. Afterwards, we completed familiarization of each others apparatus to allow for flawless operation while working together at incidents

Thank you Cleveland Hill for coming out on this hot humid Morning to better our Departments !

🐾☀️ PET HEAT SAFETY REMINDER ☀️🐾

With the hot weather continuing, please remember that the heat can be just as dangerous for our pets as it is for people.

🐶 Never leave pets outside for extended periods of time — even with shade available. High temperatures and humidity can quickly lead to overheating and heat stroke.

Please remember:
💧 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times
🌳 Provide shaded areas, but remember shade alone may not prevent overheating
🚶 Walk pets during early morning or evening hours
🐾 Test pavement with your hand — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked vehicle — temperatures rise dangerously fast
🏠 Bring pets indoors whenever possible during peak heat

Signs of heat exhaustion/heat stroke in pets may include:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Weakness or stumbling
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Bright red gums
⚠️ Collapse

If you suspect heat stroke, move your pet to a cool area, offer water, and contact a veterinarian immediately.

Please help keep our four-legged family members safe during this heat. Stay cool and look out for one another! ❤️🐾

• Cool, pale, clammy skin

🚑 Signs of Heat Stroke (CALL 911):

✅ Protect Yourself & Your Family:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day
• Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol
• Limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing

Stay safe and stay cool.
