At approximately 1200 hours on May 7, the Chehalis Fire Department was dispatched to the 1900 block of S. Market Blvd. for a reported residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed a working fire involving a two-story residential structure. All occupants had safely evacuated the structure prior to fire department arrival, with one civilian sustaining minor injuries.

With the assistance of Fire District 6, Riverside Fire Authority, Fire District 5, and Fire District 15, crews were able to bring the fire under control at approximately 1240 hours.

Firefighters remained on scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations and searching for hidden hot spots to prevent any rekindle.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries during the incident.

The Chehalis Fire Department would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance and continued teamwork. These combined regional efforts are critical to maintaining safe fireground and efficient fireground operations for the Lewis County communities.

We love a good fiesta—tacos, music, and yes… maybe a margarita (or two) 🍹😄 But let’s keep the celebration safe:

🔥 Keep grills a safe distance from your home and anything flammable
🍳 Stay close to the stove—cooking is the #1 cause of home fires
🧯 Grease fire? Smother it with a lid—no water!
🚫 Skip the fireworks—leave those to the pros
🍹 Enjoy those margaritas, but don’t mix them with driving—plan a safe ride home

Have fun, stay safe, and remember—the only thing that should be getting lit tonight is the grill (safely 😉).

🔥 Planning a backyard burn pit night? Keep it on the light side:

🚒🧗‍♂️🌊 Not your average day at the office…

On Wednesday the Chehalis Fire Department along with the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Lewis County Fire District 6, and Lewis County Fire District 15 were out doing technical rescue training—ropes, heights, and yes… the river too. 😄

From steep terrain to swift water, we train for the “uh-oh” moments that nobody plans for but everyone hopes we’re ready for.

So if you spot us climbing, rigging, or working along the river looking like we’re in an action movie 🎬—don’t worry, it’s just training day.

We train hard in all kinds of conditions so we’re ready when it really counts. 💪🚒

Stay safe out there—and maybe don’t try your own stunts in the river. 😉
