At last night’s City Council meeting, Chief Kaut introduced four new officers, who were joined by their families for the badge-pinning ceremony.

The new officers include two lateral hires and two entry-level officers:

• Justin Kangas, who joins us with about 10 years of law enforcement experience.
• Beck Davis, a lateral officer from Seattle PD with a little over a year of experience.
• Tim Bullus, who previously worked in education and as a football coach.
• Tyrese Dangerfield, who worked in transit before fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer.

Congratulations to each of them, and welcome to the team!

Officer McGrath had a great time yesterday visiting with the preschool students at Adna Childcare. The kids had a chance to check out the patrol car up close and see all the equipment inside. Lots of smiles, questions and future officers in the making!

Congratulations to Officer Lima-Hernandez on being recognized as Traffic Safety Officer of the Year at the Target Zero Traffic Safety Awards Banquet on Friday!

Members of our department were proud to be able to participate in this event. We look forward to the Torch Run coming in May!

Today, the Lewis County Commissioners proudly honored our Special Olympics athletes and presented them with the proceeds from the recent Polar Plunge fundraiser!

These amazing athletes recently competed at state, and thanks to the brave plungers, county staff and generous community members who dove into Mayfield Lake in January, over $10,000 was raised to support local Special Olympics programs.

Huge congrats to our athletes and to everyone who made this possible.
