We're very excited to announce that starting this week, MacKay will be open longer hours on Friday, from 9:30am to 5pm! This has been in the works for a while, but the amazing turnout at last Saturday's SpringFest event really emphasized how much people love our North Chelmsford branch! Drop by to browse the shelves, check out the seed library, and say hi to the staff!
PLUS, starting on May 29, we'll be having Friday morning storytimes at MacKay - for babies at 10am and all ages at 11am!

The Spring Book Sale sold $26,900 worth of books, DVDs and CDs!!!
Yup, it's a record for a Spring sale, and it beat the total from last Fall as well! We lowered the price on some books this sale but raised more money, so I think that means more people came. Thank you for spreading the word.
We thank those who support the Chelmsford Public Library by donating books, coming to these sales and joining our Friends group.
Once again I want to thank the Town of Chelmsford for providing space in the Town Gym for the sale and storage space for the tons of books we collect.
The money we raised will be spent for programs, museum passes and many special projects - such as the 24/7 lockers.
Members of the Chelmsford Friends of the Library do the publicity, set up the sales, organize books, cashier, help customers and break down the sales. You are so generous with your donations that it takes 20 people a week to sort and organize books. Custodians empty the collection boxes 3 times a day when the library is open.
We need to evaluate how to improve after every sale, so join the Friends and help make our fall sale even better.

Last week I was talking with someone who said, “Next week is book sale week—I love book sale week!”

So many people work hard behind the scenes to make the book sale happen. Our ultimate goal is to raise money for the library, but book sale week is about so much more than that.

It’s about coming together as a community. It’s seeing people you haven’t seen in a while and working side by side setting up the gym, organizing books, helping shoppers, or working as a cashier. It’s shopping and running into old friends—or making new ones. It’s people who all share a love for our library.

And of course, it’s about books. So many great books!

Book sale week brings people together while supporting something important to all of us.
