Today, fire departments across Maine are mourning the tragic loss of a firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice while in the line of duty at the Robbins Lumber Mill fire yesterday.

We at Chelsea Fire, have provided support by positioning members at the Medical Examiner's Office to maintain EOW duties. We will continue our support with assisting the es**rt of the fallen firefighter back home to Belfast.

We ask everyone to keep those who have been affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers, especially the families and loved ones of the firefighters in the hospital and still on the fireground. There are no words that can ever ease the pain of such a loss being felt by our brothers, sisters, and the families and friends in the fire service. This began as a routine fire call and turned into a devastating heartbreak.

We will never forget the outstanding courage, dedication, and selfless service shown by this firefighter and those beside them on the fireground. Rest easy, We will take it from here.

Last night members from both Chelsea and Togus got together to practice cycling water. This was a great opportunity for members to practice drafting and learning different methods water can be moved on a scene as well as working with mutual aid.

A big thank you to Togus for letting us come over and utilize part of their campus!

Wednesday night members participated in spring cleaning at the department. Each truck compartment was emptied, cleaned and put back together, even the cabs!

Not only does continuous cleaning help keep our trucks and equipment lasting longer, but allows us to keep compartments organized for members to efficiently grab any needed equipment for calls.

Thank you to all of the members who came out and helped!
