Reminder: Dragon cards are still for sale through students til Friday Sept 4th. If you know a student selling cards please help them by purchasing from them. This fundraiser helps with cost of field trips for children who might not otherwise afford to go and activities in the class. Top sellers at Longfellow will also get to have a special day with Mrs. McSpadden.

Yesterday at Longfellow we practiced our first fire drill with the assistance of the Chelsea Fire Department and Chief Craig Sampson. The students did an absolutely amazing job practicing this drill. For most of our students, this was the first drill they have ever been through and it can be scary even just practicing, but they all did great and we are so proud of them! We also snuck a picture of Coach Bryce and aide Cade with a friend sitting on the back of the fire truck. 🚒

All students will be visiting the fire station soon, so they will be able to tour the fire truck and the station and learn why fire drills are very important.

With paws as soft as fallen snow,
And gentle eyes that warmly glow,
Sweet Charlotte walks through the halls
As morning sunlight hits the walls.
At Longfellow, the day begins,
With watchful eyes and nervous grins.
Small Pre-K hands and Kindergarten feet
Are wondering who they will meet.
Then comes a cloud of white and fluff,
To prove that big hard days aren't tough.
She sits beside a tiny chair,
And rests her head right softly there,
A quiet bridge for heavy feelings,
Bringing comfort, peace, and healing.
When worry makes a heart beat fast,
One gentle pat makes shadows pass.
Through Charlotte’s soft and patient grace,
A classroom feels like a safe place.
Students learn to pet with quiet care,
To speak in whispers, soft and fair,
Discovering how to gently show
Compassion as they learn and grow.
A service dog with so much heart,
Who plays a vital, loving part.
On National Dog Day, and every day that follows,
Charlotte fills the school with bright tomorrows. 💗
