Our residents spent yesterday morning getting creative by designing and building paper airplanes while learning fun facts about aviation history. From the meaning behind the famous “Mayday” distress call to the inspiring solo flights of Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh, the day was filled with creativity, learning, and laughter.

In the afternoon, residents headed out to the courtyard to test their paper airplanes and enjoy the beautiful warm weather together.

Blue skies and farm-fresh finds made for the perfect day out! Today’s trip to Wilson Farm was a massive success as residents enjoyed browsing one of New England’s favorite farm stores, picking out delicious treats, and soaking in the beautiful weather together.

And while the shopping was a hit, the true stars of the day were definitely the whoopie pies!

Rainy days called for cozy crafts and creative fun. Residents enjoyed a quiet and relaxing afternoon making papier-mâché using recycled magazines they cut up themselves.

This hands-on activity encouraged creativity while also supporting hand mobility, coordination, and fine motor skills. A wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon together.

At the Leonard Florence Center for Living, staying engaged is part of everyday life—thanks to the dedication of Elhouari Haddar and and our entire activity staff. Whether it was a lively game of bingo, a competitive round of chess or Connect Four, or energizing movement classes, residents enjoyed meaningful activities that kept both minds and bodies active.

A special thank you to the nursing students from Bunker Hill Community College for their thoughtful thank you sign and for spending time with a small group of residents last week at Leonard Florence Center for Living.

We were proud to have these dedicated students complete their practicum experience with us. It was a truly successful and rewarding semester—for both the students and our community!

On behalf of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, we extend our sincere thanks to Joe Ruggiero of Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, Deanne Healey, and the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce for selecting us as a recipient of the Chamber for Good Program this past January.

As part of this special recognition, we celebrated the incredible dedication of our long-tenured team members. Delores Lewis, a CNA at Harriet & Ralph Kaplan Estates Assisted Living & Memory Care and a cherished member of the CJL family for nearly 34 years, was selected in a drawing of employees with 25+ years of service to receive a truly memorable gift—two tickets to see the Boston Celtics take on the Toronto Raptors on April 5, 2026.

A generous donation from Ruggiero Family Memorial Home made this experience possible, and we’re thrilled to share these photos of Delores celebrating her win and enjoying a wonderful night at the game with her husband.

Social Worker Month may have been in March, but at Leonard Florence Center for Living, our social workers are so busy supporting residents and families that it took us a little time to finally track them down for a photo—and a well-deserved celebration.
