In compliance with the order issued by Governor Kay Ivey and the Alabama Department of Health, and in conjunction with the Shelby County order, and by recommendation of the United States Tennis Association, the Chelsea Tennis Facility on Highway 51 is closed.
The Governor’s order states that all “shared ball” sports are prohibited. Please refrain from use of this and all Chelsea Sports Parks and facilities and playgrounds until the order is lifted.
Let’s all do our part to “Shelter in Place” and get this crisis behind us.
Thank you for your cooperation.
COVID-19 Update “Correction”
The City of Chelsea posted this morning that it would be against the guidelines of the Order of the State Health Office to open Day Care facilities. That information was INCORRECT.
Article 5 - Section B states:
Facilities providing child day care, including any child day care facility described in Alabama Code 38-7-2, at which 12 or more children are in a room or other enclosed or separated space at the same time shall be closed.
Any facility offering day care that has capability of keeping less than 12 children together at any time is permissible.
The City of Chelsea apologizes to the owners of the facilities for the mistake.
