The City of Chelsea shares with deep sadness that Firefighter Don Weiermann has answered his final alarm. Don has completed his last call and will not be returning to the station.

He served with courage, discipline, and a quiet commitment to others. In every call he answered, Don placed the safety of our community above his own — walking into danger so others could walk out safely.

His helmet may now be set aside, but his legacy remains firmly etched in every life he helped protect.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the Chelsea Fire Department. May his service and sacrifice always be remembered.

July is Parks & Recreation Month!
A huge thank‑you to our crew for the amazing work they’ve done mowing and maintaining areas all around town. Their hard work keeps Chelsea looking great.

Our park and playground project from last year has been a hit — kids are out there every day, and the positive feedback has been incredible. It’s wonderful to see the space being enjoyed just as we hoped.

We appreciate our team and the community that makes these spaces come alive.

Exciting Improvements Coming to Chelsea!
We’re thrilled to share that the City of Chelsea has received a $6,030 grant from the Tama County Community Foundation to revitalize our public restrooms.

This project will include updates to:
• The ball diamond restrooms – long unused, but soon to be brought back to life so we can eventually host teams and community events again.
• The public restrooms on Seneca Street – refreshed to better serve residents and visitors.

We’re grateful to the Tama County Community Foundation for supporting improvements that make a real difference in our community. These updates will help us continue building spaces that are welcoming, functional, and ready for future activities.

Stay tuned — more details and progress updates will be shared as the project moves forward. Chelsea has good things on the way.

Thank you, Tama County Community Foundation, for investing in our town.
