Aspen Meadows Brush Fire

8:40pm-Fire progression has been stopped and the fire has been 100% lined. This will be the last update for this incident.

4:53pm-Firefighting efforts continue on the ground and from the air. The fire continues to grow with windy conditions in the area.

3:30pm-Evacuation Levels are being increased to Level 2 (Get Set to Leave).

3:10pm- A 2nd Alarm has been requested for additional resources.

3:00pm-Several additional structures are currently threatened at this time.

2:40pm- Additional units have been added for a structure on fire at this location.

2:20pm-A brush fire is burning in the 17800 block of S. Aspen Meadows Dr. near Cheney.

•Level 1 (Be Ready) Evacuations have been issued for a 1/2 mile in each direction of the fires location.

TEAMWORK IS THE DREAMWORK
Earlier today we had a medical emergency in the city limits that took the teamwork of multiple surrounding agencies. Every emergency is different and today’s took the coordination of 5 different agencies. A big shout out to Cheney Police Department, Spokane County Fire District #3, American Medical Response & Airlift Northwest for all the help.

Truck Checks: Did you know that each day truck checks are done? Each week the trucks get a little deeper checkup and then monthly all items are fully inspected. Today, Lt. Hand goes through the airway bag and checks each item including all of the expiration dates to keep us up and running in our service to the community. TRAINING, TRAINING & MORE TRAINING
Your Cheney Firefighters are constantly training. Today’s C Shift went on an adventure around town to take a look at the various new construction sites, which includes commercial and residential sites. We use new construction to get into new buildings before they are turned over to the owners. Building construction may not seem super exciting to the public, but it allows us to get an idea of a layout and different building materials for that building.

Each year members re-certify in Wildland Firefighting. The pack test is part of this certification process: 3 miles, 45 lb weight vest, in under 45 minutes. FF Foster recently returned to shift and completed his test today, paced by Lt Hand.

Our newest firefighters are currently in academy, working hard to be ready for the next year of training to follow in their probationary year.

Firefighters will escorting Santa several times in December. Check out his travels in a neighborhood near you.

🎅🏽Save the Date! SCFD3's Annual Santa Es**rt is Coming to Town! 🚒

It’s that magical time of year again! 🎄 SCFD3 firefighters team up to spread holiday cheer by escorting Santa through the neighborhoods of Fire District #3. Covering approximately 40 miles of residential streets, we’ll bring festive fun right to your door! 🎁

🎶 Expect joyful holiday music, candy canes for the kiddos, and plenty of smiles along the way. 🎅🏻

We are finalizing our maps for each neighborhood now, and will have them on website soon. The Santa Es**rt will begin at 5pm each night, and process through each neighborhood listed. The links to our Live Santa Tracker will be posted to our Facebook as we begin each evening so the public can see where he and his firefighter helpers are, and when they will visit your neighborhood.

Today we were able to participate in a stair climb at EWU Woodward Stadium to honor those that offered their lives up in service on 9/11/2001. It was a good time for reflection on why we serve, those that have given all to others, and also an opportunity to meet more of those that we serve in our community. Thanks to the EWU Garden Club for hosting this event.
