Swim for free on the pool’s last day of the season, and meet some of our great firefighters!

🗳️ EMS LEVY ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT

SCFD3 will have an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) levy on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

💲 WHAT WOULD IT COST?
Proposition No. 1 is a proposed six-year EMS levy at a rate of $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value — about $4.17 per month for every $100,000 of assessed value.

🚒 WHAT WOULD IT FUND?
If approved, the levy would provide dedicated funding to hire 14 full-time firefighter/EMTs and add 24-hour staffing at two additional stations.

🔥 RED FLAG WARNING – FRIDAY & SATURDAY 🔥

A Red Flag Warning goes into effect at 11 a.m. today and continues through 11 p.m. Saturday, with Saturday expected to bring particularly critical fire weather conditions across our region.

Hot, dry and windy conditions mean a small spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire. Please help us prevent the next fire:

• Avoid outdoor burning
• Secure trailer chains so they don’t drag and spark
• Avoid parking or driving over dry grass
• Use extra caution with equipment that can create heat or sparks
• Postpone target shooting and other spark-producing activities when possible

One less spark can mean one less wildfire. Please be especially cautious today and Saturday, and if you see smoke or fire, report it immediately.

When our neighbors need help, SCFD3 answers the call.

Members of SCFD3 responded to support the , working alongside firefighters from across the region to protect lives, homes, and natural resources.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the Spokane Complex fires, including the families who have experienced loss, the communities impacted, and the firefighters and first responders who continue working to protect lives and property.

Wildland incidents of this scale are a team effort, and we’re proud to be part of a statewide and regional mutual aid system that allows fire agencies to support one another when resources are stretched thin. We experienced the strength of that system firsthand during the Gray Road Fire on August 18, 2023, when departments from across the region came to our aid. We know we may need that support again in the future.

Thank you to the SCFD3 firefighters who served our community with professionalism, dedication, and teamwork throughout their assignment.

Please join us in wishing continued safety to all crews still working the Spokane Complex and in thanking the SCFD3 members who answered the call to help our neighboring communities.

8:43 Fire progress is stopped

Espanola Fire: 7:45pm level 3 evacs have been issued in all directions from the 23405 W Thorpe.

Tomorrow, Saturday August 1st, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning 🚩 with a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) for Central and Eastern Washington, to include the Spokane area. The Red Flag Warning has been issued from 11:00AM-11:00PM with the PDS from 2:00PM-8:00PM.

This incoming weather event will present with extreme fire weather, and the very high potential for any new or existing fire to spread rapidly. Fire District 3 has added multiple additional crews tomorrow in preparation for this weather event.

In the event of a fire, be prepared to evacuate safely and have a plan in place for you and your family.

Please use extreme caution tomorrow with any type of ignition source, and avoid any activities that have the potential to start a fire.

Red Flag Warnings are out for all of Central and Eastern Washington and North Idaho on Saturday. Extreme Fire Weather is forecast from 2 PM-8 PM Saturday, with SW winds 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH for the Waterville Plateau, Okanogan Valley, Columbia Basin, Colville Reservation, Spokane area, Palouse, and Snake River. This is a particularly dangerous situation. Very rapid fire growth can be expected with ongoing and new fires.

Update 5:11pm crews will continue mop up the scene for the remainder of the evening. Preliminary findings are three lost structures: one barn and two out buildings and/or sheds. There are no known injuries other than one individual who reported difficulty breathing, but was assessed by AMR and refused further care.

Update 4:02pm the official and final size of this fire is 22.6 acres.

Update 3:31pm the fire is 100% lined

Update 3:14pm forward progress has been stopped, per incident command

Update 2:50 pm new size estimate from air attack is 3-5 acres.

Update: 2:00pm Fire is now 10-20 acres. Resources are making good progress. The fire's perimeter is knocked down, but it continues to actively burn in its interior.

The Malloy Fire (20600 block of S Malloy Prairie Road) has grown to more than 3 acres and is exhibiting active fire behavior with a moderate to high rate of spread. A Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation has been issued for the area approximately one mile west of the fire's origin, west of Malloy Prairie, as crews continue structure protection efforts and additional resources respond.

Update 1:25pm: forward progress has been stopped

Update 1:02pm: crews have hose lay around the fire, and the commander cancelled air assets.

Crews on scene 1-2 acre fire in timber, torching. A second alarm response is enroute with aircraft requested.

Level 1 "Be Ready" evacuations have been requested for W Crest View Lane, Crestview Lane and S Ridge Park Lane
