I read this today and it moved me

On this night 17 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. Tonight as you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE: Two separate events expected.
...EVENT #1...
Timing...Tuesday afternoon through early evening.
Threat Level...1-2 on a scale of 1-5.
Threats... Hail and strong wind along with heavy rain. Tornado risk is non-zero but very low. Heavy rain with 2+ inches in a short time frame possible.
...EVENT #2...
Timing...After midnight through sunrise Wednesday.
Threat Level...2-3 on a scale of 1-5.
Threats...High wind and tornadoes. Hail will be mostly sub-severe. Very high rainfall rates with 1-3" possible in an hour or less.
Discussion...Squall line will move quickly through central Louisiana after midnight. Warnings may be needed by 2 AM for portions of Sabine, Natchitoches, and Winn Parishes. A couple of trusted high-resolution models show a bowing configuration generally along and west of I-49. IF this verifies, then enhanced (70-75+ mph) wind events will be possible. Meso-vortex tornadoes are possible and tornadoes cannot be ruled out at the apex of the bow configuration. These usually reach EF-0 to EF-2 strength.
Caveat...Remember the large range of possible outcomes and the high variability over small distances.
Response...Monitor your weather sources.Stay aware and be prepared.

Last night we responded to aid our neighbouring Fire Department with a tornado touched down on Robinson bridge road. We help cut up 3 huge trees that were blocking the road preventing the rescue teams from getting to the damaged areas. We all made in back home and called it a night around 3am. Thanks to our volunteers for their work.

STATEWIDE BURN BAN ISSUED DURING PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY

BATON ROUGE- State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning, in collaboration with Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, have issued a statewide cease and desist order for all private burning, pursuant to authority under R.S. 40:1602. Private burning shall only be allowed by permission of the local fire department or local government. This order is effective as of 8 a.m., March 25, 2020 and shall remain in effect until rescinded.

“This burn ban is necessary to supplement the governor’s ‘Stay At Home’ order aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 due to the anticipation that there may be an increase in open burning occurring across the state as families look for ways to pass the time at home,” said State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning, “This order will assist in preventing potential fire-related dangers that could result in unnecessary fire service response as well as diminish airborne irritants caused by burning.”

This ban shall not apply to prescribed burns by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, by those trained and certified by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, or by those who conduct prescribed burning as a “generally accepted agriculture practice” as defined by the Louisiana Right to Farm Law
(R.S. 3:3601 et seq.).

Violation of this Fire Marshal order could result in criminal and/or civil penalties.
