Madras Police Department responded to an incident today, May 29, at approximately 12:13 p.m. near Dollar Tree, located at 1460 SW Highway 97.

Madras Police officers arrived on scene, rendered aid, and began the initial investigation. Jefferson County Fire & EMS responded and transported the individual to St. Charles Madras. The individual is being transferred to St. Charles Bend for additional care. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist.

There is no known ongoing threat to the public.

This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released when it is confirmed and appropriate to share.

Madras Police Department is continuing high-visibility traffic enforcement through Monday, with a focus on DUII enforcement.

Congratulations, Officer Young Crosswhite!

Today, Officer Young Crosswhite graduated from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Basic Police Academy; a significant milestone in his law enforcement journey.

This achievement reflects months of hard work, discipline, and commitment to public service.

Officer Young Crosswhite will now return to Madras Police Department to begin the next phase of training in our Field Training Officer (FTO) program, where he will continue learning alongside experienced officers as he prepares to serve our community.

Drive sober this Memorial Day weekend.

Madras Police Department will be conducting high-visibility traffic enforcement from Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25, with a focus on DUII enforcement.

The goal is straightforward: keep impaired drivers off the road and help everyone get home safely.

If your weekend plans include alcohol, make the plan before you leave:
• Designate a sober driver
• Use a rideshare or taxi
• Stay where you are
• Hand your keys to someone sober
