🚨 Smoke from the Cram Fire is impacting air quality across Jefferson County.
Please take precautions to protect your health:

🌬️ Stay indoors when possible
😷 If you must go outside, wear an N95 mask- n95 is rated to filter out fine smoke particles. Regular or cottons masks will not.
🏠 Keep windows and doors closed- check your hvac systems air filters, clean fans and portable ac units.
🚗 Set car AC to recirculate air
💧 Drink plenty of water — it helps your body handle smoke exposure
🧼 Avoid burning candles, vacuuming, or using gas stoves indoors
🐴 provide fresh clean water for pets indoor and outdoor to help with poor air quality - bring pets inside if possible.
🏥 Nose, throat and general sinuses maybe irritated, try over the counter medications or call your doctor before calling 911 if it’s not a true emergency!

🇺🇸 4th of July is almost here, and so is the ice bucket challenge! 🧊 🪣
Tomorrow at the Sahalee Park parade, 10am, we’ll finally take on the Mission 22 Ice Bucket Challenge —

Big thanks to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for the friendly competition (and that surprise last-minute win 🫶🏻). We’ll gladly take the cold for a cause that matters.

Mission 22 is about showing up — for our veterans, our first responders, and anyone carrying a heavy load we can’t always see.

Thank you to everyone who’s followed along, shared a post, donated, or just cheered us on. We’re grateful for the support and proud to stand with you even if we are covered in 💧 water.
Stay Safe! We are just so amazed by all the support- we 🫶🏻you!

🚩 Red Flag Warning in Effect
Weather conditions are critical for fire danger — we’re facing gusty winds, low humidity, and dry lightning. This combination can ignite wildfires and spread them rapidly.
Please call the recorded burn line for updates 541-475-1789
🔥 Please be extra cautious:
• No open flames
• Avoid mowing or using equipment that could spark
• Secure trailer chains and avoid parking on dry grass
• Report any smoke or fire immediately
• No burn barrels

⚡️ Dry lightning is unpredictable and fast-moving — our crews are on high alert and ready, but prevention starts with all of us.

💨 Stay safe. Stay fire-aware.

Our flag is at half mast to stand In quiet solidarity, we honor the lives of the two firefighters who were tragically taken in Idaho, and we hold space for the third who continues to fight for recovery. It’s a visual representation that speaks loudly.
As a fellow agency in Oregon, we extend our deepest condolences to the firefighters, families, and community of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, following the tragic loss of two firefighters and the critical injury of a third in the line of duty.

This devastating event serves as a stark reminder of the risks all first responders face—even in moments that begin with routine service. Kootenai County Fire & Rescue embodies the highest standards of dedication, courage, and sacrifice.

Though we serve in different regions, we are part of the same professional family—bound by duty, compassion, and a shared commitment to protecting others. Our thoughts are with their department and the entire community as they navigate this profound loss.

To our brothers and sisters in Idaho, we carry you in our hearts. We grieve with you. We stand with you.
Even as our daily work continues—calls, training, community outreach, and the posts that go with them—please know that our thoughts remain with Kootenai County Fire & Rescue and the community of Coeur d’Alene.

In the background of our routine is a deep sense of solidarity and sorrow for what your department is facing. The loss of two firefighters and the injury of another in the line of duty is heartbreaking, and while our crews carry on with the demands of the day, your names, your courage, and your pain are not forgotten.

The fire service is built on more than action—it’s built on connection. Across state lines and department patches, we are with you.

May you feel the quiet strength of support from all corners of the fire family. We are holding the line with you, even from afar.
