Also in the Arkansas EMT Association memorial yesterday, our former Operations Director, Steve Perry was recognized.
Steve passed recently, and it was a huge loss to both the Fire and EMS services in Arkansas and Tennessee.
We will miss him.

Today, at the annual Arkansas EMT Association conference, we paid tribute to one of our own, who sadly passed earlier this year.
Geneva Louise “Lou” Allen exemplified what it meant to care for others, and to know her was to love her.
Many of her family and friends, as well as representatives from Spring River, Vital Link, White River Health, Grange/Calamine fire department, Ash Flat Fire department, the Sharp County Quorum Court and Sharp County Judge Mark Counts were in attendance to honor Ms. Lou.
She will be sorely missed.

Some of our Spring River team attending the annual Arkansas EMT Association conference in Hot spring today.
This week is an opportunity to receive continuing education hours and look at the latest innovations in EMS tool and equipment.
It’s also a rare time to visit with colleagues from across our state in a relaxed environment.

Tonight was a celebration of lots of hard work.
Years ago, we at Spring River had a vision. We wanted to start our own Paramedic program. To “home grow” our own team. Last August, in cooperation with the New York Institute of Technology and ASU Jonesboro, we began our first Paramedic program. We wanted this first class to start small, and prayed that it would work.
These four dedicated students and one amazing teacher have done it!

Tonight, we celebrated our first ever graduating paramedic class!
Three grueling semesters of classroom and clinical hours, both in the Ambulance and in the hospitals, and they have crossed the finish line.
One has already taken and passed the National Registry exam, and the other three will be testing very soon.
We are SO proud of them all.
Congratulations!!
Our next class starts in the fall semester, with a much bigger class census, but the same dedication to excellence.
Congratulations again to all, and good luck in the future!

If you get a chance, please say a “Thank you” to all the fire,police and EMS workers braving the heat today, to take care of everyone at the Cave City Watermelon Festival. It means the world to them.
