We were grateful to welcome a team from Cherokee Nation yesterday for a visit focused on our harm reduction work, including our Syringe Services Program and Public Health Vending Machine initiative.

The delegation included leaders in behavioral health, harm reduction, and community support services, along with Cherokee Nation First Lady January Hoskin. We appreciate the chance to share, learn, and strengthen our collective work to support community wellness.

During Native American Heritage Month, we’re reminded that caring for our communities is cultural work. Our harm reduction approach is rooted in respect, connection, and evidence-based practice, helping prevent overdose, reduce infectious disease, and ensure non-judgmental access to care.

Special thanks to Freida Saylor for helping connect this visit as part of the broader CIHA visit. A sincere thank you to Cherokee Nation for your partnership and dedication to community health.
