๐Ÿฎ 3rd Annual Youth Beef Industry Tour a Success! ๐Ÿฎ

On June 3, 2026, nine Alfalfa and Woods County 4-H members participated in the 3rd Annual Youth Beef Industry Tour, gaining a firsthand look at several sectors of the beef industry.

The day began at Ashland Feed and Seed, where owner Jeff Kay shared insights into the livestock feed industry. Members learned how pelleted feed is manufactured, how bagged feed is produced, and how the company creates its own alfalfa pellets.

Next, the group traveled to Shaw Feeders, where manager Ryan Koons provided an in-depth look at feedyard operations. Youth learned about cattle projections, closeouts, ration formulation, and feed delivery systems, helping them better understand the business side of the beef industry.

The tour concluded at Gardiner Angus Ranch, where Quanah Gardiner shared the rich heritage and history of the ranch. Members then had the opportunity to meet the legendary GAR Hometown, making for an unforgettable end to the day.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this educational experience possible! We appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and passion for the beef industry with our youth. A special thank you to Jeff Kay for generously sponsoring lunch for our 4-H members.

We look forward to another great Youth Beef Industry Tour next year! ๐Ÿ„โ˜˜๏ธ

๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒท Community Pride in Action! ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒณ

Cherokee 4-H and Cherokee FFA met this morning to give Ira Hill Park a little extra care and attention! The youth worked hard trimming trees, picking up limbs, cleaning out flower beds, planting new flowers and plants, and clearing off the sidewalks.

A big thank you to Cherokee FFA for partnering with our 4-H members on this community service project. Working together, these young leaders made a positive impact on a space that everyone in our community can enjoy.

For the past three years, Cherokee 4-H has been committed to improving and maintaining Ira Hill Park through various beautification and service projects. This yearโ€™s efforts were the culmination of a beautification grant received by Cherokee 4-H and are another step in making the park a welcoming place for the community.

We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork shown by all of the youth involved. Thank you for helping make Cherokee even more beautiful! ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’š

The Science of Journaling

Journaling isn't just writing โ€” it's a way to actually understand what's going on in your head and express yourself. Words, doodles, whatever works for you. No rules, no grades. Journaling has real benefits for your mental health! People who journal can manage their stress better and can better understand their own emotions. Writing about our feelings can help with problem-solving and clarity. If you arenโ€™t sure where to start, you can try one of these.

-Copy down lyrics or a quote and write about what it means to you

-Tell the story of a hard thing you got through

-Write about one person or thing that you are grateful for

-Draw how you are feeling. You donโ€™t have to use words to use a journal.
