Our Story
Our mission is to stand as a voice and an advocate for veterans and their families. We are dedicated to ensuring Cherokee County Veterans, their dependents, and their survivors receive the full measure of county, state, and federal benefits to which they are entitled. To that end, veterans are treated with compassion, integrity, dignity, and accountability.
Jerry Weiland: Director. I assist veterans with disability claims, pensions, aid and attendance, house bound, aid and attendance for surviving spouses as well as pensions and house bound assistance, Veterans Administration Hospital, transporting veterans to the VA appointment and any other problems or questions they may have. We are associated with the Des Moines VA Regional Office, Dakota Dunes and Spirit Lake Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), Sioux Falls VA Medical Center, and Sioux City Veterans Center. As your County Veterans Service Officer (VSO) I am the only person in the county who can assist you with the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund.
