Wired Up For Safety…Thank you to Alfalfa Electric Cooperative for the meal and hosting and to Cimmaron Electric Cooperative for the presentation and live line demonstration. Multiple first response agencies from in county and surrounding counties were represented tonight.

Cherokee Firefighters Tyson Ream and Trig Ream got their patches and challenge coins today for completing their FF1&2 programs through OSU-OKC. Next step is going through the EMT program next year and then being ready to go full time when they graduate high school!

It’s been a fantastic year for the Chiefs in many areas. Let’s finish it strong and go win a little bit of 🥇🥇🥇 at the State Track meet! The CFD is very proud of all of our kids headed down to Western Heights this weekend.

FF1 students worked on confined space entanglement, calling the mayday, search and rescue and ladders today. Also worked on getting our donning and doffing times down! Great work by the guys this weekend. Back to book work and getting ready for the next round of skills!

FF1 skills tonight in Cherokee. Class members worked on inspecting gear, donning and doffing of said gear and knots! Great work by all this evening!

Today was a new one for us. We’ve gotta couple cats out of a tree before, but never a dogs head out of (what we thought was a bucket initially) but ended being an old heat exchanger for an old floor furnace we think? Chopper had got his head in there prob chasing a mouse and couldn’t get it back out! He was very calm but we didn’t wanna use any of our saws, as we thought it might get him worked up? We brought out our hydraulic cutters that we use for auto extrication and was able to slowly snip around it until he was freed. Ya just never know what we’re gonna encounter? Glad we were able to free him and get him back to his family!
