🚧 Notice Regarding Signs in County Road Right-of-Way 🚧

We have noticed an increasing number of signs being placed along road shoulders and within the county road right-of-way. These include political signs as well as signs advertising local businesses and events.

For the safety of the traveling public, the county right-of-way must be kept clear of unauthorized signs. Signs placed in these areas can create sight-distance issues for drivers, become distractions, and may present hazards along the roadway.

County crews routinely mow the shoulders of hard-surfaced roads and maintain the right-of-way. As part of this work, signs located within the right-of-way often must be removed to allow maintenance activities to be completed safely and efficiently.

We also ask residents not to dispose of tree limbs, grass clippings, leaves, or other yard waste in road ditches or within the county right-of-way. Yard waste can obstruct drainage, create maintenance challenges, and contribute to roadway safety concerns. Ditches are designed to move water away from roadways, and keeping them clear helps protect both public infrastructure and private property.

We ask all residents, businesses, organizations, and campaign representatives to help keep county road rights-of-way clear by placing signs only on private property with the property owner's permission and outside of the county right-of-way.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our roads safe, well maintained, and functioning properly for everyone.

🚧 Speed Limit Reduced on C38 in Cherokee County 🚧

The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors has approved Resolution No. 2026-18, reducing the speed limit on a portion of County Road C38.

The new speed limit of 45 miles per hour will apply from the Cherokee city limits east to the intersection with State Highway 3 (the ski hill), for both eastbound and westbound traffic. The change was made following a review by the County and a recommendation from the Cherokee County Engineer to improve safety and provide more consistent traffic conditions.

The reduced speed limit will become enforceable once appropriate signage has been installed.
