EBCI Emergency Management

EBCI Emergency Management The Emergency Management Office is responsible for creating plans through which communities reduce their vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.

Disaster management does not avert or eliminate the threat; instead it focuses on creating plans to decrease the impact of disasters. Failure to create a plan could lead to damage of assets, human mortality, and lost revenue. The EM Office is also the central point of contact for requesting assistance, supplies, and equipment from the state or federal levels during times of disaster. By utilizing

the four phases of Emergency Management (Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery) EM can respond more effectively and efficiently to the citizens of the Qualla Boundary during times of emergencies and disaster.

There is a low-end isolated flash flood threat tonight into early Saturday morning. Isolated locations across northeast Georgia and along the NC/TN border could see locally higher rainfall amounts up to 2 to 3 inches.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued from 6 PM EDT today through 2 PM EDT Saturday.

Isolated to scattered showers and storms will continue to increase in coverage and intensity this evening, with rainfall expected into Saturday.

Rain rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour can be expected at times, in the heaviest showers and storms. Due to recent saturated soils and high rain rates, isolated flash flooding is possible for some areas, especially across areas that see repeated rounds of showers and storms.

Due to the scattered nature of the convection, it's hard to say where the highest rainfall amounts will occur. Some areas within the Flash Flood Watch will see several inches of rain, and some may see little to none. Areas that see training and repeated rounds of convection, could see upwards of 3 to 5 inches.
