💛During National Public Safety Telecommunications Appreciation Week, we recognize the men and women who serve as the first point of contact in times of emergency.

Our dispatchers are the calm voice in critical moments, providing life-saving information, coordinating response efforts, and ensuring the safety of both our citizens and first responders.

Over the past year, our team has demonstrated exceptional resilience - continuing to serve through flooding events, adapting to a new work environment, and maintaining operations from an off-site location to ensure uninterrupted service to our community. Despite ongoing challenges they have remained committed to their mission and to the people they serve.

They manage multiple calls, radios, and systems simultaneously, often under high stress, while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and composure.

Behind every call for service is a dispatcher working diligently to gather information, prioritize response, and keep deputies informed in real time.

Their work is often unseen, but it is essential to everything we do. We are grateful for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to serving our community.

Please join us in thanking our dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.

To our San Saba County Dispatch,
Thank you.
Sheriff David L Jenkins.

The Burn Ban is in effect as of March 15, 2026

03/12/2026

We are grateful for the recent rainfall, but the combination of wind and sunshine has rapidly dried out the area. With the burn ban lifted this morning, we have already responded to an uncontrolled burn within a couple of hours. If you plan to conduct burning, please exercise extreme caution, ensure a water source is available, and clear vegetation from the burning area. The abundance of dead vegetation remains, and it only takes a brief period of sunshine for it to dry out and become highly volatile fuel. Unpredictable winds can cause fires to quickly get out of hand.
