RETIREMENT OF EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT BETSY ROANTREE
Congratulations to Executive Administrative Assistant Elizabeth “Betsy” Roantree on her retirement from the Cherry Hill Fire Department effective June 1, 2026. Betsy began her career with the CHFD on June 1, 2011, after previously working as an Administrative Assistant and HR manager for The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police, and also in the private sector.
Betsy has served the Office of the Fire Chief under the administrations of Chief Giorgio, Fire Director Kelly, Chief Kolbe, Chief Callan and Chief Houlihan as well as multiple Fire Commissioners during her tenure. Bringing her signature style and grace to every task, she was the hinge pin of Fire Administration for 15 years.
Notable accomplishments include establishing the protocols and procedures for Firefighter and EMT hiring, promotional and Oath of Office ceremonies, publishing our year end reports and accreditation documents, and organizing our Department website and Schedule of Activities. Betsy was successfully able to keep the OFC and the Department “in line” and on track, even during the time she was mandated to work from home due to the COVID Pandemic.
A key member of our organization and involved in every project and initiative in one way or another, the professional assistance she has provided and the successful projects she has been a part of, are simply too numerous to list.
“Ms. Betsy” exemplifies the work ethic, dedication, and character that fuels our organization and allows us to be the excellence-driven Department that we are. Her always-positive attitude and overall command presence will be missed on the second floor, although we know for sure that she will not miss her daily Route 295 commute!
Betsy will be working her “last shift” this Friday. On behalf of the entire Department and Board of Fire Commissioners, we wish Betsy much success in her future endeavors and thank her for her years of service and countless contributions to our organization and to the Citizens of Cherry Hill.
