How many tragedies will it take before Coloradans demand state oversight of 2nd/3rd trimester abortion facilities? DFLCO was a prime driver of bills during the 2025 and 2026 Colorado legislative session that would have granted the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment the authority to license, regulate and inspect these facilities like all other healthcare facilities that perform procedures with similar risks. Our Democratic state representatives all voted against this measure at the bequest of the abortion industry. The abortion industry's actions speak louder than their words - they really only care about abortion access and their bottom line. They don't care about the health and safety of women.

A classic example of the abortion industry's intentional and malicious misinformation campaign. They should stop undermining the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the important role of data collection!

"Surveillance" in public health is used to assess numbers/trends e.g., measles surveillance, C-section surveillance rates. Cobalt is absurdly trying to have the uninformed public believe that abortion surveillance is actually about "spying" on women. The de-identified data is used to improve health and save womens' lives and not for the nefarious reasons the abortion industry would have you believe.

Abortion surveillance has been conducted by most states and the CDC since 1969. Its purpose is to identify trends in abortion utilization and procedures by demographics, maternal age and gestational age. It informs public health policies and procedures and can be used to evaluate public health interventions such as comprehensive s*x education and access to natural/pharmaceutical family planning resources.
