Another successful iPASS On Demand event in Marengo!

More than 100 residents stopped by to trade in their iPASS transponders and receive the new iPASS sticker at our latest event with the Illinois Tollway.

These events are part of our effort to bring state services directly to the communities we serve, making it easier and more convenient for residents to access important resources close to home.

It was great to see so many residents take advantage of this opportunity and to visit with community members one-on-one throughout the day.

Thank you to the Illinois Tollway team for their assistance and to the Marengo Park District for hosting this event.

We’re always looking for ways to bring helpful state services directly to residents across the district.

Like many Illinoisans, I was troubled by the violence we saw in Chicago this weekend. Behind every headline is a victim, a family, and a community that is hurting.

Public safety shouldn’t be a political issue. Whether you live in Chicago, Rockford, the suburbs, or a small town, everyone deserves to feel safe where they live, work, and raise a family.

The conversations I’ve had with residents, community leaders, and law enforcement are consistent: people want safer communities. They want violent offenders held accountable, illegal guns kept off our streets, and practical solutions that help prevent violence before it starts.

The challenges are real, but so is our responsibility to address them. We can make progress when we focus less on politics and more on what brings communities together and keeps families safe.

This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend SpongeFest in Marengo and support an incredible cause.

For many years, SpongeFest has brought people together through music, fellowship, and community service while raising funds for charities, families, and individuals facing difficult challenges. This year’s event focused on raising awareness about men’s cancer prevention and the importance of early detection—a message that can truly save lives.

I enjoyed meeting with organizers, volunteers, and attendees, learning more about the mission behind SpongeFest, and seeing firsthand the impact this event has on our community. The “Soak Up the Hope” tribute was a powerful reminder of those we honor, remember, and support in the fight against cancer.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this event possible. Events like SpongeFest demonstrate the very best of our communities—neighbors coming together to support one another, raise awareness, and bring hope to those who need it most.

Saturday I stopped by the Huntley American Legion Vet Fest, an event I was proud to sponsor and support.

It was a beautiful day spent honoring our veterans, connecting with friends and neighbors, and hearing stories from those who served our country. Events like this remind us that supporting our veterans is not just about remembering their service—it’s about showing our appreciation every day.

Thank you to the Huntley American Legion, the volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this year’s Vet Fest such a great success.

Most importantly, thank you to our veterans. We are grateful for your service and sacrifice. 🇺🇸

🐾 HAPPY NATIONAL DACHSHUND DAY!!! 🐾

June 21 is celebrated as National Dachshund Day because it falls on the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Since dachshunds are the longest dog breed relative to their size, it only makes sense that we celebrate these lovable pups on June 21!

I honestly don’t know what life would be like without Wyatt and Wynnie. They bring so much joy, laughter, and love to our family every single day.

Today we’re celebrating all the dachshunds—and all the dogs—that make our lives a little brighter. ❤️🐶☀️

Beautiful evening at the Belvidere Street Market on Buchanan Street! I’ve attended this event for years, and it was amazing to see how much it has grown. The increase in vendors, the great turnout, and the strong sense of community made for a fantastic experience. Kudos to the Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce for putting together such a successful event and helping showcase the best of our community! 👏🎉

Starting July 1, Illinois drivers ages 79 to 86 will no longer be required to take a behind-the-wheel driving test solely because of their age.

I was proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan legislation, which focuses on driving ability and safety rather than age alone.

This is a commonsense change that treats Illinois seniors fairly while keeping our roads safe.

Join us in Marengo for a free I-PASS event.

I’m partnering with State Representative Joe Sosnowski and the Illinois Tollway to help residents get free I-PASS sticker tags and manage their I-PASS accounts.

The event is Tuesday, June 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Marengo Park District, 825 Indian Oaks Trail in Marengo.

Whether you need a new sticker tag, help with your account, or assistance resolving toll issues, representatives will be on hand to help.
