October is Fire Prevention Month!

Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company is excited to kick off Fire Prevention Month today!

We already have our local schools scheduled for fire prevention presentations, and we’re looking forward to spending time with the kids, teaching them about fire safety, showing them our equipment, and helping them understand what firefighters do.

But fire prevention isn’t just for schools!

If there are any groups, organizations, Scouts, daycares, clubs, or other
community groups in Lehigh Township that would like to schedule a tour of the firehouse and a fire safety presentation, please reach out to us. We would love to have you visit!

Fire Prevention Month is a great reminder for every family to talk about fire safety at home.

Make sure your family:
• Has working smoke alarms on every level of the home
• Tests smoke alarms regularly
• Has a family escape plan and practices it together
• Knows two ways out of rooms whenever possible
• Chooses a safe meeting place outside
• Teaches children to get out and stay out — never go back inside
• Knows to call 911 once safely outside

A fire can happen when you least expect it, and having a plan ahead of time can make all the difference.

Take some time this month to sit down with your family, make your plan, practice it, and talk to your children about what to do in an emergency.

Fire prevention starts at home, and together we can help keep Lehigh Township safe!

WE WILL NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
Today, Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company pauses to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We remember the thousands of innocent civilians who went to work, boarded a flight, or simply began an ordinary day that would tragically become their last. We remember their families and loved ones whose lives were forever changed.
We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters, along with the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, first responders, and all those who courageously ran toward danger to help others — many making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
We also remember those who suffered lasting health effects and those we have lost in the years since as a result of their service at Ground Zero.
Today, we honor every life lost, every family affected, and every hero who answered the call.
From all of us at Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company we remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the unity our nation showed in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Today, we had the honor of recognizing one of our own, John Knobloch, Firefighter-EMT and Vice President of Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Co. #1, alongside the United States Secret Service.

John was presented with the Secret Service Life Saving Award in recognition of his actions while serving as a Special Agent with the Secret Service. John’s quick thinking, decisive action, and humanitarian spirit directly resulted in saving another person’s life—an act that changed someone’s life forever.

We are incredibly proud to have John as a member of our department and grateful for the years of service he has given to our country and continues to give to our community.

Serving Our Community. Protecting Our Neighbors.

In an effort to avoid any misinformation or confusion, the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Co. would like to provide the following information regarding a current project.

We are currently in the process of acquiring land in the vicinity of our current location. This acquisition is fully funded through our fundraising efforts. Any future construction or building on the property would also be funded through continued fundraising efforts and available grant opportunities.

No fire tax funds are being used for the land acquisition or any future building project.

The fire tax is specifically used for apparatus replacement, fuel, apparatus insurance, and workers’ compensation for our firefighters.

The purpose of acquiring this land is to plan for the long-term future of the fire company and the community we serve. Our fire station was constructed at a time when fire apparatus was significantly smaller and the needs of the fire service were very different. Modern fire apparatus is larger, taller, and requires additional space to safely operate, maintain, and house.

We believe it is important to plan ahead now so that future generations of firefighters have the facilities and resources they need to continue providing the highest level of service to our community.

We understand that projects of this nature may generate questions, and we are committed to keeping our community informed as we move forward. We look forward to providing updates as this process progresses.

Thank you to our residents, supporters, volunteers, and community partners for your continued support. Your support allows us to continue planning for the future while maintaining the equipment and resources necessary to protect our community today.

Thank you for standing behind your volunteer firefighters!
