Student and school bus safety will be the focus of "Operation Safe Stop," which takes place this week across Michigan. OSS is an enforcement campaign that will be conducted October 19-23 in conjunction with National School Bus Safety Week. Participating police agencies will be on the lookout for drivers who ignore the flashing red lights and extended stop-arm of a school bus that is picking up or dropping off students. Be alert and drive safe, Michigan! www.michigan.gov/SchoolBusSafety

Fall is finally here and so are falling leaves! Before starting leaf cleanup we wanted to remind residents of a few rules for fires in the Village.

- You are only allowed to burn fire wood. You cannot burn brush, leaves, garbage, etc.
- Fires need to be contained to a fire ring or pit no larger than three feet in diameter.
- Fires must be tended to at all times and fully extinguished when you are done.

If you would like to know more about burning in the Village the burning ordinance can be found on our website VillageOfChesaning.org or you can pick up a copy of the ordinance in the office.
