Please join us in giving a BIG Gator welcome to Heather DeSorbo, who will be joining our 3rd Grade Team for the 2026–2027 school year!

Born in Connecticut and raised in North Carolina, Heather has always had a passion for education and literacy. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Education and her Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy.

Heather brings 12 years of elementary teaching experience to GFE and is passionate about creating engaging and supportive learning environments where every student has the opportunity to grow, build confidence, and succeed.

This year marks an exciting new chapter for Heather as she begins her first year teaching with Chesapeake Public Schools, and we are thrilled that her journey has brought her to Grassfield Elementary and our amazing third graders!

Please join us in giving a BIG Gator welcome to Jessica Ambrose, who will be joining Grassfield Elementary as a Teacher Assistant for the 2026–2027 school year!

Jessica's journey to GFE has taken a few different paths! After proudly serving in the United States Navy, she spent 16 years working as a paralegal. In 2020, when her youngest daughter was born, Jessica decided to step away from her career to stay home and enjoy those precious early years with her.

Jessica and her husband are the proud parents of five children, and now she's ready to begin an exciting new chapter as part of our GFE family! She is looking forward to supporting our students and staff and helping wherever she is needed.

Jessica says that sometimes life takes us down unexpected paths, and she is excited to see where this new one leads. We're pretty excited that this particular path has led her to Grassfield Elementary! 💙🧡

Welcome to GFE, Jessica! We're so glad you're joining our Gator family and can't wait to see all the wonderful ways you'll make a difference in our school community!🐊
