Honored to join our community in celebrating the service of Captain Don Sharer and his incredible family. During his time in captivity, his wife, Fran Sharer—a dedicated Green Run High School teacher—showed unwavering strength and resilience here at home.

As a Green Run graduate, I am especially grateful for the Sharer family’s sacrifice and steadfast commitment. Their legacy has helped shape not only our community, but generations of students who walked those same halls. We remember, we honor, and we carry their example forward. Thank you to my dear friend, Jennifer Sharer Knight, for allowing me to offer a few remarks of the impact of your Mom’s service at my Alma mater! God bless you all!

Congratulations to Chesapeake’s three newest Animal Control Officers! 🎉

Yesterday, we celebrated the graduating class of the very first regional Animal Control Academy session—a program created by our own officers who saw a need and made it happen. Proud of their initiative and dedication to our community.

Congratulations to all! 🐾

Grateful to attend this year’s Annual Bataan Death March remembrance event.

The Bataan Death March stands as one of the most solemn chapters in our nation’s history. In April 1942, thousands of American and Filipino soldiers were forced to march over 60 miles under brutal conditions after the fall of Bataan during World War II. Many endured unimaginable suffering, and far too many never made it home. Their courage, sacrifice, and resilience will never be forgotten.

It was incredibly meaningful to stand alongside veterans, families, and community members today to remember those who gave so much for our freedom. Events like this ensure that their stories live on and that future generations understand the true cost of liberty.

Thank you to our local VFW for continuing to honor these heroes with such dignity and respect. 🇺🇸

Honored to attend the Chesapeake New Men for Progress Scholarship Breakfast this morning. Investing in our young people is one of the most important things we can do, and this organization continues to make a lasting impact by supporting students as they pursue their educational goals. Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients! I can’t wait to see all you accomplish!
