Miss Phyllis's Daycare

Miss Phyllis's Daycare I have been providing daycare from my home for 21 years. I know I can help you with your child care needs. I am flexible and reliable. My name is Miss Phyllis.

I have been doing daycare from my home for 21 years now. I currently have openings for all ages. I am in the Georgetown Primary school district.

~~~ I am flexible with hours and days.
~~~ I provide care for many military families, duty days as well as
deployments.
~~~ I provide 2 meals and snacks ( you provide all infant needs).
~~~ I have an indoor playroom and fenced outdoor play area.

Quit creating timelines for MY kids.

Because I’m tired of milestones being fair game for everyone to discuss.

I constantly hear from other moms about what I SHOULD BE DOING,
when I SHOULD potty train,
break bad sleep habits etc.

They’re SO concerned.

And they think it’s helpful.
But IT’s NOT!

If one of my kids is behind in speech or a milestone that can indicate an intervention needed, that’s one thing.

But at the same time, assume I’m working on it. It can be frustrating for a parent who is already concerned to have EVERYONE ask about it.

And it also feels a bit competitive and more like judgment at times than trying to "help."

But in all the minutia, my kids will create their own milestones. Yes, I'll push them along at certain points, but I just want them to BE KIDS as long as possible.

And if a bottle of milk, stuffy, Wubbanub, or crawling into my bed after a bad dream makes them feel safe, I’m okay to give in.

Because at the end of the day, they’re only kids once, so I want to let them enjoy their childhoods,
instead of constantly working on SOMETHING.

Each child is unique, and they’ll get there when they’re ready.

So, unless you’re a concerned doctor,
quit creating timelines for MY kids.

I promise I’m on top of it.

These kids? They're listening.

They hear us when we complain. They know when we are talking about them.

They're not ignorant. They're not dumb.

They are so smart. They're processing everything we say. They are building their vocabulary, their character, and developing little personalities based on what they hear.

When I say, "He's my stubborn child..." He hears me.

When you say, "She is wild..." She hears you.

I'll never forget the day my oldest told me he was giving his food to his younger brother because "he's the good eater."

My mouth dropped. I probably said my younger was "the good eater" a dozen times.

You guys, they're listening to everything we say.

If you want your kids thinking they're "hard, stubborn or defiant..." keep telling your friends this out loud in front of them.

But in that same vein… If you want your kids knowing they are brave, adventurous, creative and kind, say it for them to hear.

Because they will.
