Fall isn't all pumpkin spice and everything nice. Area wildlife are also preparing for winter so there is an increased chance for wild encounters, including encounters with potentially rabid animals. Please take a moment to check your pet and livestock vaccination records to make sure they are up-to-date on rabies shots. If a human or unvaccinated pet is exposed to a rabid animal, the consequences are not good. For more information, please visit www.vdh.virginia.gov/animal-contact-human-health/rabies-control/

Due to the threat of flooding, in conjunction with the City of Chesapeake Government, our building will close at NOON Monday, October 3.

Moderate to major coastal flooding (inundation of 2 to 3 feet above ground level) is expected today. Water levels peak during the afternoon/evening high tide cycle and will be highest in the Lower Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic coast of SE VA/NE NC. Additional moderate coastal flooding is expected tonight and Tuesday.

Storm force wind gusts persist over the ocean today, with gale force gusts elsewhere. Gale force gusts will then continue through Tuesday. Additional beach erosion is likely due to large breaking waves.

Gusty winds of 40-50 mph are expected along the bay/coast today.

Yesterday my husband and I received our first Covid vaccine shot through Chesapeake Health Department in Grassfield. The process was seamless with everything very fine-tuned and running on schedule. Everyone we came in contact with was professional and efficient. Kudos to everyone working with this venture and best of luck to all of those waiting for their turn.
OK its next week-where is the vaccine dashboard?
OK its next week-where is the vaccine dashboard?
Is this page the only official source for citizens of Chesapeake to get information regarding Covid vaccinations? If so, please consider suspending all non-Covid posts for the time being so we can quickly find the important Covid updates. Also, could you please share some information about HOW and when there might be some sort of system for people in 1B - the group you areserving right now - will at least have a chance to SIGN UP for a shot. Seeing how many people have already been vaccinated when I (over 65) haven't even been offered a chance to TRY to sign up just makes me angry. A little useful information about what to expect can at least give us a little hope.
The Rite Aid qualifier website is horrible! Why does the CVS one say The COVID-19 vaccine is not yet available at CVS Pharmacy in Virginia so you can't even try to pre-register. I don't like how this is going.
Maybe someone can answer my question....

According to CDC, I qualify to be in the vaccination group 1b in Virginia, having qualified with 2 high-risk medical conditions. When I go to the Virginia Chesapeake Health Department, and RiteAid websites to sign up through the notification system or schedule an appointment at RiteAid, neither one of those sites list the high-risk medical conditions that I qualify under.

Does that mean that there are "selected" high-risk medical conditions that are being moved to group 1c in Virginia, the general populous? Or has this been an oversight?
How much Covid 19 vaccine was administered February 3rd in the City of Chesapeake and where are the vaccination sites for February 4th?
Explain to me how two people who live in portsmouth were able to get am appointment at the Chesapeake Health Department and get there vaccinations. There are not 1A.
There is a problem wit form to register for vaccine. Difficulty in accepting phone number in any form.
How do I register for 1b vaccinations?
Could we please have a website that is clearer and easier to navigate? This page from Fairfax County is a good example:
Chesapeake has not made a public resource available for group 1a or 1b to register. This is in spite of the fact that other cities that entered 1b after Chesapeake have public registration available. So far it is all promises and no action.
