Hope U Foundation

Hope U Foundation Hope-U removes barriers to success for disconnected youth ages 18-26, helping them reach their educat

Being in the foster care system isn’t easy, and let’s face it, it isn’t a choice. To make matters worse, statistics are not good for youth who exit out of the foster care system. The federal government is tracking specific information on foster care youth at ages of 17, 19 and 21 to provide statistics on the effectiveness of the foster care system. Through our experience and the following noted st

atistics, the outcome is bleak for these unfortunate young adults.

-45% will drop out of high school
-51% will be unemployed
-50% will be homeless
-25% will be incarcerated

Hope U Foundation was created to aid both young women and young men, between the ages of eighteen and twenty-six to attain autonomy by teaching them to realize goals and meet their needs in a healthy, responsible, and productive manner. Our program will help young people develop self-esteem, obtain basic survival skills, improve social and leadership skills, and promote community and peer support networks. We have 5 programs:

Hope U Academy-young adults will learn independent living skills so they can be prepared to succeed on their own when they age out of care. Hope U High School-instead of a GED, students can get a fully accredited High School Diploma. Hope U College Assistance-Provide college students with assistance, guidance and mentoring. We provide temporary housing, financial and general support. Hope U Independent Living-Provide housing, financial assistance, vocational training and independent living skills. Youth must be working or seeking employment and follow program guidelines. Hope U Workforce-Provide vocational job training and work experience. Youth will gain experience working in supervised business units that support Hope U Foundation.

Our Story

Hope U Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed for the sole purpose of helping youth achieve independence and sustainable employment through a reliable support system. Although we began our focus with exclsuively foster care youth, Hope U works tirelessly everyday helping the community’s disconnected youth - youth between the ages of 16-24 who are neither working nor in school.

Our mission is ending homelessness, hunger, and unemployment for youth in our community.

The goals are two-fold:

  • To empower young people to attain autonomy by teaching them independent living skills to better prepare them for young adulthood. The focus for these 14-21 year olds is skill development and SMART goal setting;
