With several cell towers damaged in SW Florida, and the remaining towers struggling to handle the excess cell phone and data traffic in the weeks after the storm, the Verizon Crisis Action Team didn't hold anything back hooking up first responders with a cell tower and wifi in their back yard.

This one-of-a-kind Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response (THOR) vehicle comes complete with a command center in the back and boosts cellular coverage in the area while also providing wifi for the COMMCOM and U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach crews.

The Enhanced Mobile Incident Command Post (eMICP) has been deployed in South West Florida since Hurricane Ian made landfall devistating the region in late September. Hit hard was U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach whose station was undergoing rehabilitation when the storm made landfall resulting in a near total loss.

Station fort Myers Beach crew didn't miss a beat teaming up with the deployed COMMCOM team to make the eMICP their new home, continuing operations and supporting the communities of south west Florida

The eMICP is a mobile command post with a robust array of capabilities. The expandable full-size trailer hosts comfortable working space for more than 15 people supported with telephone, internet, and radio communications.

COMMCOM has two of these nearly identical assets. Can you tell the difference?

Happy Birthday to the United States Navy!

Since the creation of the Continental Navy on 13 October 1775, the United States Navy has maintained naval superiority throughout the maritime domain. The United States Navy continues to be an integrated force that enhances security and deterrence in the face of current and emerging challenges.

We are honored to operate alongside the US Navy!

Recently the USCG Communications Command worked along side the Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 and the USCG Port Security Unit 311 in a Joint Exercise.

The COMMCOM deployable communicators in Louisiana were restoring Search and Rescue communications capabilities when they heard cries for help from a nearby house, which sustained heavy damage during Hurricane IDA. Inside the structure, they found several pets that weathered the storm on the elevated deck. The team safely lowered the animals from the structure, provided them with water, and transported them to a nearby animal hospital.

We always answer the call — even from our furry friends! Coast Guard operations are challenging, communications should not be.

Twelve of Communications Command's deployable communicators completed the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course hosted by the DHS Federal Law Enforcement Academy.
During the course, the communicators learned the dynamics of emergency vehicle operations and perfected a series of driving courses intended to challenge drivers and push their limits responding to a simulated emergency. This training is vital to the communicators ability to operate their assets in response to real world emergencies.

MK3 Burkowski won bragging rights as the fastest time completing the final drive for evaluation while CWO Lebrecht won a coveted piece of a course marker for delivering a devastating blow to the marker during skid training.

Big thank you to the outstanding instructors that coached our crew though the high speed and intense curriculum.

A crew of deployable communicators from the United States Coast Guard Communications Command deployed to U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Juan in Puerto Rico in support of a hurricane exercise to ensure readiness, resiliency, and preparedness. The exercise stressed the capabilities and interoperability of the incident command post with the support of COMMCOM's deployable crew and capabilities.

The crew and the Mobile Communications Vehicle (MCV) flew down aboard a C-130 from USCG Air Station Elizabeth City. The MCV is a "command center in a box" able to provide vital radio, data, and voice communication networks when all other infrastructure has been damaged.
