Last week the Chesapeake Police Explorers assisted with the graduation of the 71st session. K9 Boss was also sworn in as Chesapeakes newest k9 Officer. Congratulations!

Chesapeake's Law Enforcement Explorer Post is a co-ed group of young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 interested in pursuing a career in the field of law enforcement. It is sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America and sanctioned by the Chesapeake Police Department. The group assists both the Chesapeake Crime Prevention Council (CCPC) and the Police Department with various events throughout the year including Serve the City and the Jubilee. In addition to this, they also perform community service. The post meets twice a month for classes and training. Explorers are expected to maintain at least a "C" average in school and be of reputable character. Provides both practical and hands-on experience. Training Explorers receive training in a variety of subjects including: • History of Law Enforcement • Law • Basic Police Operations • First Aid • Crime Scene Investigation, Traffic Direction and Enforcement • And More… Benefits • Provides exposure to the field of law enforcement • Provides practical, hands-on experience with the Chesapeake Police Department • Provides educational and training opportunities • Provides opportunities to forge core values including community service, integrity, professionalism, and respect • Learn responsibility and discipline • Encourages self-improvement and character building • Scholarship opportunity Post Activities • Volunteer opportunities • Field Trips • Ride-Alongs • Special Events
