Last night juniors worked alongside firefighters to review the principles of lifting vehicles off of partially or fully trapped people using the TL-9. This tool gives our spreaders a larger lifting base, allowing for a safer lift.

The CFD has used the TL-9 in real life emergencies in the past including a car vs dirt bike and rollover accidents with occupants who have their arm or leg pinned under the car.

Last night juniors, recruits and newly certified Firefighter 1 members trained on hose stretches and vehicle lockouts.

Skills were put to use soon thereafter when our newly certified firefighters stretched a precautionary dry line on a smoke in the attic call.

Practice creates habits, works out problems and allows for our members to be ready for when the time comes.

Juniors and recruits worked on patient packaging and low angle rope systems including anchors, change of direction and redundancy with twin tension systems. A low frequency event with a large potential in our district makes this a very important skill to learn and practice.
