FYI. For anyone concerned about swimming in pools that are sanitized with chlorine or have allergic reaction to chlorine.
Hypochlorous acid is HOCL “chlorine” we measure in swimming pools for sanitation. I’m not a chemist and don’t think I can explain all that crap. However read on.
Hypochlorous acid is naturally produced by our white blood cells and is an essential part of our immune system. This process is called phagocytosis and is one of humans' most symbiotic actions – eliminating pathogens yet being inherently harmless, unlike most other disinfectants which are toxic.
Given this information that Hypochlorous acid is floating around in our bloodstream, most likely any skin irritations from swimming in a chlorine pool is from water imbalance. You can be within DEHC parameters and perfectly clear water and still not have balanced water. Here at CFR we check our water weekly for water balance and make any adjustments. This is also very important for the life of the pool structure, heaters, and other equipment.
