Fireflies in the Garden, by Robert Frost

Here come real stars to fill the upper skies,
And here on earth come emulating flies,
That though they never equal stars in size,
(And they were never really stars at heart)
Achieve at times a very star-like start.
Only, of course, they can't sustain the part.

The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and Iโ€”
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Cedar Waxwings with orange instead of yellow tail tips began appearing in the northeastern U.S. and southeastern Canada in the 1960s. The orange color is the result of a red pigment picked up from the berries of an introduced species of honeysuckle. If a waxwing eats enough of the berries while it is growing a tail feather, the tip of the feather will be orange.

Check out the Blue Jay just to the right of this Barred Owl! Jays are notorious for harassing owls and other raptors as a defense strategy. Owls prey on eggs, nestlings, and even adult Blue Jays. Harassing the owls, often as a group (or mob), can be an effective deterrent.

The color of Eastern Bluebird eggs is one of life's greatest joys. But, did you know, white eggs can occur? A female that lays white eggs will do so all her life. The presumption is that she had an infection in her oviduct that impacted her ability to add pigment to the egg shells.

Though often called a "tulip poplar" or "yellow poplar" due to its straight, poplar-like growth, the tuliptree (Liriodendron tulipifera) is actually a member of the magnolia family, not the poplar family.

Eastern Bluebirds typically have more than one successful brood per year. Young produced in early nests usually leave their parents in summer, but young from later nests frequently stay with their parents over the winter.
