UUPD offers our most sincere condolences to Central Berks Regional Police Department as they mourn the loss of Officer Kristen Yeager. Our thoughts are with the PD, and Officer Yeager's family and friends.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.

🖤💙 End of Watch: May 29, 2026

We have just been informed by the Chester County bridge department that the North Reeds Road bridge (off of Rt. 282/Creek Road) over the Brandywine Creek was inspected today and as a result of that inspection, it was determined that the bridge needed to be closed immediately. We have limited information at this time, and are working to obtain additional details such as the duration of the closure and the plan moving forward, but we wanted to share what we know currently as quickly as possible. Traffic should use the Lyndell Road bridge instead. We will provide additional details as soon as they are available.

Update 5/12/26 1:00 -- The traffic signal programming has been completed, and the lights should be working normally. We'll of course be keeping an eye on traffic, but if anyone notices any issues or concerns with the timing, please let us know. Thank you!

Update regarding the traffic signal work at Rt. 100 and Graphite Mine Road:

The bulk of the work was completed today without issue. Everything went very smoothly, and we appreciate everyone's patience. There will be additional work performed tomorrow which may involve a lane closure on the southbound side. The contractor will be removing the foundation from the old light pole. Additionally, the traffic lights will be programmed to operate more efficiently, which will keep traffic flowing as optimally as possible. We're aware that northbound traffic has been backing up this afternoon, and that should be remedied tomorrow as the programming is fine tuned.

TRAFFIC ALERT:

On Monday May 11, 2026, there will be road work at the intersection of Rt. 100 and Graphite Mine Road. Our traffic signal contractor will be replacing the traffic light poles for the light for Rt. 100 south, which was damaged last year when a vehicle struck the pole. The new vertical pole has already been installed, and on Monday, the contractor will be installing the new horizontal arm, and moving the signals, signs, and other equipment to the new arm. This will necessitate lane closures, and at times, brief total closures (only while they raise and lower the arms themselves). Please be patient with delays and use an alternate route if possible. The timing is not ideal with Little Conestoga Road being closed, but the work is necessary. The contractor will be trying to complete the marjority of the work between 9 am and 3 pm to minimize the disruption to rush hour traffic. Thank you!
