The National Weather Service has a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon on Tuesday, 6/18, until 8pm on Thursday 6/20:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke: muscle cramps, heavy sweating, nausea, headache or light-headedness may all indicate a heat-related illness.

Most heat-related illnesses can be treated with fluids and by resting in a cooler place. If symptoms persist, get worse, or someone you are with seems confused or loses consciousness, dial 9-1-1 and get immediate medical help.

Potential for some hazardous driving condition tomorrow. Please be safe, take your time and plan ahead.

🚨Significant storm system expected Tuesday and Wednesday🚨

As we begin to dig out from the recent winter storm, all sights turn to an impressive low-pressure system expected to bring a period of heavy wet snow, damaging winds, and plenty of rainfall to the region. Let's look at a timeline of expected impacts.

Tuesday afternoon - Heavy wet snow will move into southern Vermont and spread northward. Main accumulations will be 1-4" of new snow but we expect 6-12" for the higher summits of the southern Green Mountains and Adirondacks. The snow will taper off by midnight.

Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning - Strong southeasterly winds will materialize across the region with widespread wind gusts in the 45-60 mph range. Some locations along the western slopes of the Green Mountains could see wind gusts in excess of 65 mph. These winds begin to weaken Wednesday afternoon. Secure loose objects and holiday decorations as they could get damaged or blown away. Scattered to widespread power outages are also likely.

Late Tuesday night through Wednesday - Snow changes over to rain with widespread rainfall totals of 0.75" to 1.5". No river flooding is expected at this time, but sharp river rises are expected. Poor drainage due to recent snowfall may create ponding of water on area roadways.

Moral of the story, keep an eye on the forecast and prepare for a significant system to impact the region. More on this system later today.
