The Chester DPW has started repainting the crosswalks and pavement markings along Main Street!!!!

Making our existing crosswalks easier for drivers to recognize and safer / clearer for pedestrians to use, is a simple, rational, and important first step. Reflective beads will also be applied to the paint to help improve visibility, especially at night.

This is not the end of our crosswalk safety initiative. There is still more work to be done as we continue looking at visibility, signage, traffic flow, parking, and other potential improvements throughout Main Street. As we continue working toward longer-term solutions, your input will be helpful at my future meetups ,

Thank you to our DPW for getting this work underway and helping make Main Street safer for everyone.

Today, I spent time with the Chester Police Department discussing crosswalk safety and potential improvements along Main Street. Together, we reviewed crosswalk visibility, parking patterns, traffic flow, blind spots, jaywalking concerns, signage, and other factors that impact pedestrian safety.

This meeting represents the second step in this process. The first step was identifying concerns raised by residents, and today's discussion allowed us to evaluate many of those issues firsthand with the expertise of our police department.

The next step will be to bring ideas and potential solutions into a public forum at our local coffee shops, where residents will have the opportunity to share their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions. Community input is essential as we work to improve pedestrian safety while preserving the character and charm of downtown Chester.

I appreciate the time and insight provided by the Chester Police Department and look forward to continuing this important conversation with our residents.

One of my family's favorite places to spend time is Grove Street Park. Whether it's watching the kids play on the playground or just enjoying a beautiful day outside, it's one of those places that makes Chester Borough special.

Earlier this year, several residents reached out to let me know that the harsh winter had exposed tree roots and rocks that created some uneven areas within the playground mulch, making it less safe for children.

I'm happy to share that the Borough has since addressed many of the areas that were brought to our attention. Thank you to everyone who took the time to report these concerns and to our Borough DPW for their work in making the park safer for everyone.

Keeping our parks safe and enjoyable is a team effort. If you ever notice something that needs attention, please don't hesitate to let me know. I appreciate everyone who helps keep Chester Borough a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

Happy 4th of July everyone.

I'm Chester we had an incredible celebration as we honored the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence! 🇺🇸

It was amazing seeing Chester come together to celebrate our nation’s history, freedom, and the community spirit that makes our town such a special place to call home.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and Recreation Director, Jennifer for all the hard work, planning, and dedication that went into making this event such a great success. Events like this take countless hours behind the scenes, and their efforts truly showed.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, organizations, residents, and families who came out and made this such a memorable celebration.

I’m proud to serve a community that continues to honor our nation’s history while keeping the small-town charm and traditions that make Chester so special.

Enjoy the highlights from our 250th Celebration! 🎥🇺🇸👇

Over the past few days, several residents have reached out with concerns and ideas regarding pedestrian safety and crosswalks in our downtown area. As a result, I have begun spearheading an initiative to take a comprehensive look at crosswalk and pedestrian safety throughout Chester Borough.

This effort will include gathering information and recommendations from the Borough, Chester Police Department, and Morris County. I also believe that some of the best ideas come directly from the people who live, work, and visit Chester every day, which is why I want your input too.

In the coming months, I plan to engage with residents, business owners, and community groups to hear their experiences, concerns, and suggestions. We will evaluate all options, including signage, lighting, crosswalk placement, enforcement, traffic calming measures, and anything else that comes up in discussions.

Chester is a walking town and my goal is simple: improve pedestrian safety while preserving the charm and character that make Chester such a special place to live, work, and visit.

If you have thoughts, concerns, or ideas regarding pedestrian safety in Chester, please feel free to comment below or reach out to me directly. I look forward to working together to make our community safer for everyone.
