***IMPORTANT*** Town Farm Road is closed due to a large tree and wires across the roadway. The road is closed at #34. Eversource has been notified and has made it a priority.

***IMPORTANT*** If any of your smoke detectors and/or carbon monoxide detectors begin alarming, call 911 immediately and the department will respond to investigate. Never assume there isn't an issue, particularly with the carbon monoxide detectors. Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless and the department has gas meters on the apparatus that can detect the presence of CO in your residence.

Please join us in congratulating FF/EMT Tyler Lord for successfully completing his probationary requirements. Tyler joined the department in January as a per diem FF/EMT and has been very active within the department. His future goals are to pursue his driver/operator class and his Advanced EMT. He will also be starting as a full time FF/EMT with the city of Merrimack. Congratulation Tyler! Well done.

Today the Chester Fire department had W.D. Perkins conduct it's annual pump testing on Tanker 1, Engine 2 and Ladder 1. This testing is an annual requirement and ensure the pump capacity and operation of each vehicle is in working order. A huge thank you to Wayne Perkins and his very knowledgeable staff in keeping our apparatus tested and in great shape.

This month’s fire fighter spotlight is Mr. James Sylvain who is a certified Firefighter, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and Hazardous Materials Technician with 18 years in the Fire Service. James came on the Chester Fire department in August of 2025 as a per diem employee.

His job experiences include full time with the Manchester Airport Fire Department, Per Diem with Litchfield Fire Department, and training Prop Operator for Airport Firefighter facilities at the New Hampshire Fire Academy.

James has additional certifications which include Hazardous Materials Technician, Trench Rescue Technician, Ice Water Technician, Swift Water Technician, Fire Inspector 1, Fire Officer 1, Fire Instructor 1, and pump operator.

His personal interest involve being a dog dad, hiking, a huge New England sports fan, amateur cook, and a lover of 80s music and 80s movies. James is also very fluent in movie quotes and sarcasm.

James has been a great addition to the Chester fire department and brings a vast amount of experience in public safety which greatly benefits the residents of Chester.
